Video of the Day: "P.O.W."
Alicia Keys performed this peice on Def Poetry Jam Season 2. It is very reminiscent of a Maya Angelou performance: powerful, precise and delivered with passion. This particular poem “P.O.W.” comes from her book entitled Tears for Water.

So, as I sat and pondered on my next post I began to search the internet for things that sparked an idea. Technorati, YouTube, that little google toolbar in my browser–everything! I found only things that I’d seen before. I plan on interviewing some poets, featuring this club in Baltimore that I’ve heard so many good things about, but as I was searching and watching so many different youtube clips, I realized one thing: I LOVE poetry.
A good poem is heroine to my addict soul, sunshine to the blossoming rhythm of my heart, “the perfect verse over a tight beat.” I love poetry and when I think about how much, I start to itch like the feening addict, withering like a thirsty flower, distant like the lost beat. So I use words as my muse. I flip through the virtual pages of youtube until my cyber finger lands on the third line of a Def Poetry poem and this is what I get:
